My other interests

We have 3 older VW's that we drive and enjoy. The 77 VW Westy is nearly 100% restored and great fun to camp in. A 1976 Porsche 914 2.0L that I have had since 1995 that is pretty much restored but is also set up for track/AXing. Our newest addition is a 1970 Karmann Ghia convertible that has had really one owner. Its a fun summer driver that I will restore in the near future.

What are we doing in Suriname!!!!

On March 8th, 2010 Monique and I arrived in Suriname to take over managing Lifestyle Interiors, a kitchen cabinet shop. We jumped right in trying to improve the business, new techniques, marketing etc. Slowly orders started flowing in especially once we imported Bamboo plywood and people saw how exciting our designs were.

Monique owned a small house in Suriname which we decided to repair and renovate. We made a ton of progress but we will finish it when we get back.

Food is amazing in Suriname so what's a blog without food pictures!

"What does Suriname look like?" We are asked all the time so here is a few pictures of Suriname from our eyes.

Seattle Nights

We went on a evening walk last night to the new Jefferson Park to watch the sunset. Wow, just amazing!
The picture is my attempt at a panorama of the park.

Afterwards we went to Georgetown, a hip Seattle neighborhood, for the IPO festival where my old friend, Dennis was playing in with his band at Club Mix. Dennis is on the left playing the bass! Not bad for a bunch of old rockers.

Summer's finally here

Seattle's the temp's are in the low 80's so out come our 1970 Karmann Ghia convertible to cruise in.  A  drive at 10 PM coming back from friends in West Seattle gave us a wonderful "city light" view of downtown Seattle.
We are in "Panic Mode" now trying to get ready to go back to Paramaribo, Surianme for six months. We are packing cartons and doing some last minute shopping so a ton of stuff can be shipped off.  I can't wait to be back in Suriname for the "endless summer" there and see all our friends and family.
